The Kalibo Pastrana Park is now being upgraded as another tourism destination here, an official said.
“We hope for the Pastrana Park to become a safe and neat place to relax, especially this coming summer season,” said Councilor Cynthia Dela Cruz, chair of the Committee on Environment.
Part of the park upgrading is the landscaping with more trees and flowers and to make it friendly to persons with disabilities.
The redevelopment of Pastrana Park is being supported by the office of the municipal mayor, municipal tourism office, Kiwanis Club of Kalibo Jewels, Civil Engineer’s Society, United Architect’s Association of the Philippines-Aklan, Catholic Women’s League and the Aklan Electric Cooperative.
A full-time park administrator will also be assigned to manage the park and its programs.
The Philippine National Police will also assist in the security of visitors relaxing at the park.
Last year, the local government of Kalibo initiated a social media survey asking Kalibo residents for recommendations on what to improve at the Pastrana Park.
The Pastrana Park has been considered as an archaeological reservation site in 2015 by the National Museum as it yielded several antiques believed to have been owned by Chinese migrants.(PNA) JNA
